E-invoicing, all VAT-registered companies, France
Since 1 September 2026, every VAT-registered company in France must be able to receive electronic invoices. Large and mid-sized companies must also issue them from that date.
For SMEs, very small businesses and sole traders, the published timeline requires them to issue e-invoices from 1 September 2027, and to send transaction data to the tax authorities.
On 11 April 2025, the French National Assembly rejected an amendment that would have postponed this timeline. A company still invoicing on paper or in Word therefore needs to get the right tools in place. Check your exact date with the tax authorities.
